I'm always surprised by how infrequently I find these discarded bits of blue. The first one found midsummer at age seven stirred interest in what kind of bird had laid it. Mom told me it was a Robin's egg tossed out of the nest after the chick incubating inside it had hatched. This one may be one of about four or five I've come across and maybe only the second one found out on street pavement, now slowly but surely decomposing for natural recycling.
