A two-day trip uphill 3000 ft to the west and then walking south along the eastern edge of the Pecos Wilderness provides spectacular alpine tundra views. Something about this walking space instills a thrilling sense of light-footed, carefree delight for all things within sight. The only sounds are the wind and an occasional marmot whistling an alarm call.
I've never encountered other people up here, another delightful thing about this hike. The overall effect is a surreal high no amount of fine weed or magic mushroom can ever bring.
