When I was a kid, I would get down on my belly and crawl around to get some idea of what it was like to be a small animal or bug scurrying around on the ground. I was usually rewarded with sight of something I had never noticed before. Something interesting and memorable. These days, I belly crawl with camera in hand to capture images of the unexpected rewards. Trying it a couple of years ago, this was the feature find of that belly crawl, a Blue Flax opening its first bloom of the day just after dawn.
