The summertime cold snap lasted three days and nights, providing ample opportunity to distill the first jug full of mineral-free water while the wood burning stove was in use again. The little still worked like a charm, faithfully chugging out its first gallon unattended as the stove steadily warmed the house. No more purchasing several gallon bottles of distilled water at a dollar each from the grocery store in town to then have to haul home, and the empty bottles are being reused now.
Another step forward in this little sustainable off-grid living project.
