They're due to arrive before sunrise tomorrow.
During the Polar Vortex, it was sunny and warm here. Springlike 50ºF weather the entire time. Now southern California is being slammed and the evening sky here is clear and blue except for a thin cloud bank hanging stationary directly overhead.
I've seen this kind of cloud before, signaling high winds coming soon. When they blow the house moans and creaks like a ship in high seas. So I stoke up the fire, brew a hot tea before bedtime and settle in to read something engaging while it howls on outside, pretending I am making long passage in a wooden sailing vessel of old, warm and cozy inside while ships captain and crew keep us afloat.
Seventeen hours of fierce winds in the forecast.
Sweet!
