Ocate Cliffs Work Retreat

Updated: Feb 27, 2018

While doing data science research for Collins Lake Ranch last spring, I stumbled across the Ocate Cliffs web site. I contacted the founder Star Ford to share information about how we were leveraging G Suite For Nonprofits at the Ranch and how it could possibly be used by Ocate Cliffs. We exchanged a couple of emails about internet access challenges and possible options in rural northern New Mexico and they kindly sent me a free logo T-shirt which I gladly wear any time I'm out amongst other people.

Surfing through the Ocate Cliffs web site pages, I lingered to read about this inspiring retreat facility conceived of, being constructed from the ground up and operated by autistic people. Having built my home/studio and established my little company here from scratch on entirely unimproved wilderness land over a decade ago, I understood a little about where they were coming from and where they were heading to, project-wise, and I was intrigued.

This June, 18 through July 1, 2018 their summer work retreat is being combined with an international camp in association with Volunteers For Peace. Check it out, and their web sites too. Very cool stuff going on by both organizations to improve the world without exploitation of people or places, and I can imagine lots of unique learning opportunities in store for participants of the work retreat.
