Wrens have been nesting for years in one of the security camera boxes attached to the house. They're not flashy, feather-wise, but man can they sing and fly! And they're great hunters too. As soon as I begin stacking firewood, they penetrate deep into the stack on hunt for bugs and worms hiding inside, emerging with prey firmly clamped in their tiny beak.
Sometimes they bang or scrape their catch on a piece of wood to stun or kill it before taking it up to the nest for feeding to their young. An amazingly energetic, if not flamboyant bird.
